Johannes Høsflot Klæbo, the Norwegian professional cross-country skier, recently had a rather frightening experience when he was chased and bitten by dogs while out for a training session. The incident occurred in Trondheim, Norway, where Klæbo was doing his regular ski workout.
It was a sunny afternoon, and Klæbo had just started his training session on the ski tracks. As he glided gracefully through the snow, he noticed a pack of dogs running towards him. At first, he thought they were just being friendly and playful, but as they got closer, he realized that they had a different intention.
The dogs, instead of stopping to greet the skier, quickly surrounded him and started barking aggressively. Klæbo tried to scare them away by waving his ski poles and shouting, but the dogs seemed undeterred. They continued to circle him, barking loudly and showing their teeth.
Feeling trapped and fearing for his safety, Klæbo decided to take matters into his own hands. He grabbed a small branch lying nearby and started swinging it around, hoping to create a barrier between himself and the dogs. Unfortunately, this only seemed to agitate them further.
In a desperate attempt to escape, Klæbo lunged forward and sprinted away from the pack of dogs. However, his efforts were in vain as one of the dogs managed to bite him on the leg. The pain was excruciating, but Klæbo continued to run as fast as he could, hoping to outrun the pack and find help.

The incident left Klæbo with a deep bite wound on his leg, requiring stitches, and he also endured a series of painful rabies shots as a precautionary measure. As he recovered from the physical injuries, he also had to grapple with the mental trauma caused by the attack.
Klæbo expressed his gratitude towards the local resident who called for help and the medical professionals who provided him with the necessary care. He also took the opportunity to raise awareness about responsible pet ownership and the importance of keeping dogs on leashes in public areas.
This incident serves as a reminder that even professional athletes like Klæbo can encounter unexpected dangers while pursuing their sport. Klæbo is known for his incredible speed and agility on the ski tracks, but he faced a different kind of challenge on that fateful day.
The Norwegian skiing community showed immense support for Klæbo during his recovery, sending him messages of encouragement and well-wishes. As he gradually returned to training, Klæbo vowed to continue pursuing his passion for cross-country skiing, but with a heightened sense of caution.
